Phenomenon Baby Mario World Vol. 1 Zip-Up Hoodie – 2007

In 2007 Phenomenon collaborated with Japanese rapper Dabo for a limited run of garments to advertise Dabo’s latest solo album Baby Mario World Vol. 1. Considered a legend within the early 2000’s Japanese hip-hop scene, Dabo was the first artist signed to Def Jam Japan. Many people are not aware of Takeshi “Big O” Osumi’s extensive rapper discography. From 1997-2007 Big O appeared in 62 records by various notable Japanese hip-hop artists - one of which is a feature on Dabo’s Baby Mario World Vol. 1 which is how the collaboration with Phenomenon came about.

Here we have an eye-catching zip-up hoodie from the legendary Japanese street style brand Phenomenon. This piece features chenille varsity letterman patches spelling out “B.M.W. #1” – an acronym of ‘Baby Mario World Vol. 1’. This garment is constructed with heavy 100% Japanese cotton and includes a jersey-like mesh lining with Phenomenon’s signature gold chain-link all-over print.
