Founded by the creative mind of Keizo Shimizu (owner and director of Japanese fashion umbrella company – Nepenthes), Needles is a fashion distribution firm started in 1998. The brand's initial success paved the way to flagship stores around Tokyo and abroad, with establishments in Boston and New York City. Shimizu became unhappy with what was not available in the market – This vision led to the creation of Engineered Garments, and Keizo’s own designs in Needles, South2 West8, and sonic labs. Keizo Shimizu’s designs with Needles draw from historical magazines, past experiences, and travel. Garments boast a bohemian/west-coast flair, unlike non-other.
