Junya Watanabe first entered the fashion industry as a pattern cutter and apprentice to Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, his hard work and creative mind did not go unnoticed as he ascended the ranks to become the design director of Comme des Garçons Tricot line in only three years. In 1992, Watanabe went on to start his eponymous line for womenswear and Junya Watanabe MAN for menswear producing iconic collections and collaborating with powerhouse brands such as Loewe, Levi’s, and The North Face.
