Number (N)ine Hickory Pain Denim – SS08

Taking inspiration from the crows that perched themselves along the desolate, yet dense alleyways of Takahiro Miyashita’s hometown of Tokyo, Number (N)ine’s SS08 collection “Birds” pays close attention to garments that feature design elements of ruffled fabrics & bondage which boast the greasy toughness of the crow, and elegant nature of the bird species. To accompany the pieces presented at its runway show during Paris Fashion Week, we hear lullaby iterations of some of Nirvana’s most aggressive songs which is yet another example of how Grunge plays such an important role within the ideology and presentation of Number (N)ine’s pieces.

Here we have a unique pair of denim from Number (N)ine’s SS08 collection. This piece includes various subtle details such as its “hickory” pattern which is established with a vintage wash, darting on the upper thighs, and Number (N)ine’s signature crying heart leather patch and sheet music motif. Recently worn by Playboi Carti, this pair of denim has become one of the brand's most recognizable pieces.
