Named after Takahiro Miyashita’s own band “The High Streets”, Number (N)ine’s AW05 collection is home to some of Miyashita’s greatest works. This collection emphasizes the use of layering by styling fur vests over cropped blazers, feather necklaces atop hooded flannels, and satchels at the waist that trailed behind each model. While garment layering was a great touch to many of the pieces, tailoring is what stole the show. Jackets were deconstructed and re-constructed with different fabrics, large external pouches were sewn onto sleeves and legs, and the use of embroidery on denim was top notch and ahead of the time.
Here we have an iconic pair of jeans from Number (N)ine. This faded black skinny-fit denim features the highly recognizable Ortega motif finely woven onto the knees and back pockets. Equipped with a Riri zipper fly, PAIN tag, and Number (N)ine’s crying heart leather patch, this garment is a timeless piece from one of Takahiro Miyashita’s best collections.
