Number (N)ine’s Autumn/Winter 2008 collection entitled “My Own Private Portland” served as Takahiro Miyashita’s final act of homage towards the beloved ‘90s west coast grunge scene. The collections title was a reference to Gus Van Sant’s film, “My Own Private Idaho,” a 1991 American adventure drama loosely based on various works of Shakespeare. Veering away from the traditional grunge aesthetic, pieces from this collection included a variety of rather unorthodox earth-toned garments styled with moccasin shoes – much different than the traditional patched denim, flannels and striped mohair’s commonly associated with the grunge aesthetic pioneered by the late Kurt Cobain. 

Here we have a reissue tee from Number (N)ine’s AW08 “My Own Private Portland” collection. This piece features the iconic collegiate-like graphic screen-printed onto a high-quality 100% cotton t-shirt.
